Inevitably all Øksfjordians will travel by boat to the nearest hospital for a number of reasons. The 'Hurtigbåten' stops at several small ports within the district on its two hour journey to Hammerest, the world's most northern city. The term 'city' is used loosley within the Norwegian language.
