Day:215, Words:215

Øksfjord and the surrounding areas attract a heap of keen fishermen from all around Europe. Shane, an inexperienced sea fisherman from England is part of a large group enjoying a fishing adventure holiday in nearby Sandland. He landed a ridiculously large halibut weighing in at 91 kilograms. He said it was hard work and required assistance of two others to haul the giant fish out of the water.

The folk at Sandland are super excited about the record catch and are hoping that Shane will spread the word back home. The fishing group are enjoying their trip and throw most of their catch back into the ocean. The record halibut however was donated to the locals. Shane and his friends have already booked their holiday in Sandland for next August.

The fishing tourism trade is an exploding industry in and around Øksfjord. Accommodation and boats are booked out from May to September at least a year in advance and there are more arriving in April and staying later, even as the weather starts to turn ugly in October. Despite the drivng rain and soul eating cold winds, they are out in their fishing suits, apparently enjoying themselves.

If this keeps up, they might have to think about erecting a Hilton hotel to accommodate the masses.
