Day:139, Words:139

Today was the inaugural 'Øksfjord Mila', a 10 kilometre fun run through the hilly streets of Øksfjord. The locals are used to competing on skis and mountain peaks, yet the endevour was 100% across the board. The event, a brainchild of the physiotherapist, was considered a roaring success by spectators and supporters alike.

It looked ominous! as the winds arrived just prior to the start, but the sun came out and jackets were flung at family members as they passed the halfway mark. The atmosphere was one of solidarity and fun, from a pre race group warm up, to a cup of homemade soup at the finish. There were many impressive performances, including first timers attempting the challenging distance.

For the record, the Australian born Øksfjordian crossed the line first. We hope that today was the start of a tradition.
